Alert Security Training Opening the door for a future career in security
Welcome to Alert Security Training
Thanks for visiting Alert Security Training (AST)! Established in 2007 to meet the training requirements of the Manitoba Private Investigators and Security Guards Act, AST is more than just a security training company. We can offer training on-site for groups of 8 or more for your convenience, or in our office to minimize disruptions at your workplace. Currently we are not able to offer individual classroom training, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Heather Genik, President and Approved Training Provider
Heather has been involved in the Safety and Security Industry for over 9 years. Starting out in 2004 as a security guard for a labour dispute, she has worked in various positions including static guard, site supervisor, mobile field manager and finally as an instructor. She has experience in security consulting and is a certified Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Specialist.
An avid runner, she has completed the Victoria Goodlife Half Marathon in 2010, and the Winnipeg Police Service Half Marathon in May 2011. Heather was also involved in many volunteer activities in the past years including the Winnipeg Police Community Cadet Corp at both Machray Elementary and John Pritchard School. She previously volunteered at the Downtown Biz as an Ambassador, and has fundraised money for Team Diabetes , as well as volunteered at a Chase the Cure fundraiser in Ontario in 2009.
Heather married Murray Genik August 27, 2011 and is excited about the future.
In May 2014, Heather made a tough decision to cease individual classroom training. After 7 successful years of business, she chose to alter course in order to adapt her life to Murray's new career, as well as pursue adopting a child. Currently waiting for a child to be placed with them, this was the best option to exercise.
Alert Security Training believes that the future of our world is in the hands of the community. Our vision is to engage the community in improving security measures, demanding a higher standard of safety and security by implementing preventative measures against crime to assist the police is using their resources more efficiently.
Over the past 7 years we have trained over 1500 people in the Manitoba Security Guard Training Program alone. Of those people, approximately 90% of our students pass on their first attempt. We believe this is a fantastic accomplishment as many of our students are new to the English language, have varied educational backgrounds or may experience other learning barriers.
